Background
On September 27th, Lil Wayne called into DJ Drama’s radio show, confirming earlier twitter reports that a new official mixtape would be dropping.. When asked about the mixtape, Wayne responded “I got tired of sitting back and everybody make mixtapes. I was like man let me drop a mixtape; I know how to rap too. Once I start liking all them songs that be out, it becomes time for me to put out a mixtape. Once I find myself jumping in my car and cutting on the radio instead of putting in a CD, thats when I know I gotta go in the studio and murder they beats”.. The following Monday, Young Money recording artist Mack Maine, revealed that Wayne was already 6 songs deep on the tape also stating that, “On birthday, was saying, ‘Everyone else is putting out mixtapes, so I gotta show them that I still got it.. Weeks later, Mack Maine revealed that the tape was finished and hinted that it might be available to the public early the next week. An unoffical release party was announced with the Young Money crew and his boy A. Hunter. According to AllHipHop.com and DJ Folk, the mixtape will be a “Gangsta Grillz” release and hosted by DJ Drama.
On October 28, 2009, No Ceilings has leaked onto the internet available for download on various blog sites. However, it has been reported that when the mixtape is officially released, there will be an additional eight songs.
